ABOVE: Roughly 150 students, ranging in age from preschool to eighth grade, from May Sands Elementary Charter School and Montessori Children’s School of Key West, along with teachers and family members, created a large peace sign at Bayview Park on Tuesday morning. The group sang a few songs and recited Gandhi’s ‘Prayer for Peace’ to celebrate International Peace Day, or World Peace Day. Observation of the day began at the United Nations in 1981 and was credited to work toward the end of violence and war across the globe.
